Sikes | Pittsburgh Indie Hip Hop & Podcast News

Sikes is an Indie Hip-Hop artist & producer from Pittsburgh, PA. He also hosts a weekly podcast focused on the Pittsburgh Music & Entertainment scene called Start The Beat with Sikes.

This is what happens when I don't update my website for 3 weeks. #updates

Wanted to start off this post by thanking everyone one last time that voted for Sikes, Greywalker and Brewtal Beer Fest last month in the 2017 Best of Pittsburgh Readers Poll. It has been a really busy year for all of these projects and things are not slowing down any time soon!

I will be performing a solo Sikes set next month with some awesome people here in Pittsburgh at Blue Canary on December 2nd. The people at Blue Canary are really welcoming and this will be an awesome night full of underground sounds.

In other news, Greywalker is releasing our Hot Sauce collaboration with Allegheny City Farms this Friday at Mr Smalls Funhouse! We've been doing all sorts of fun promo for this including a "Hot Ones' Parody/Tribute with our good friend Sean Valentine of the band Vermithrax.

Brewtal Beer Fest has launched our Brewtal Alliance Membership Program which is an awesome way for you to stay BREWTAL throughout 2018. Check out this promo video below to learn all about that!

In the middle of all this chaos Start The Beat is still going strong and new episodes have been coming out weekly. I recently had Day Bracey from the Drinking Partners Podcast on my show and it was an awesome conversation. Check out a video clip below along with some links to some other recent episodes!

And of course we can't forget about #oneminuteorless. I've been doing my best to get these out weekly. In case you missed any here are the past few...

And the train just keeps rolling! We opened up the Get Hip Record Store last month as well. Myspace Nite was a blast and yes, I'm still working on the new Sikes album. I promise. See below for photo proof. That's all for now. Later!

New songs. Soon. πŸ‘Œ

Dance Parties, Music Festivals and Rap Shows THIS WEEKEND!

It's fucking summer which means you're supposed to go out and play shows or whatever. This month in particular has been over the top busy for me and the gang. We got a few more events coming up to round out the month and if you're looking for something fun to do this weekend from dance parties to music festivals to DIY Rap shows we got you covered.

This Friday (June 16th, 2017) I will be hosting & DJing the Myspace Nite Dance Party at Brillobox alongside DJ Wyatt.  Dance, dance all night to your favorites from the β€œMyspace era” including: Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, From First To Last, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Chiodos, 3OH!3, Paramore, Brand New, All Time Low, Cute Is What We Aim For, Motion City Soundtrack, New Found Glory, LMFAO, Mayday Parade, Metro Station, Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, AFI, Good Charlotte & more!

This weekend is also the 4th River Music Fest which is a 3 Day DIY Festival full of Music! Food! Art! Poetry! Workshops! Zines! Sideshows! Fire Performance and Good Folks! We're performing on Saturday (June 17th, 2017) at 6:40PM but there are fantastic things happening the entire weekend.

I also recently recorded an episode of Start The Beat highlighting the 4th River Music Fest with my pal Joey Schuller who is an amazing human AND one of the people responsible for organizing the event. Check out the conversation below and learn all about the fest!

After our performance this Saturday (June 17th, 2017) at the 4th River Music Fest we'll be shooting straight over to The Smiling Moose to play THIS BANGER alongside longtime friends Amuck, Basick Sickness & Moemaw Naedon. I have never met CPX3 before but I'm sure they are a nice person. Regardless, this lineup is STACKED and a great way to close out the weekend. I'm just happy to actually be on a Hip-Hop bill for once. It's been a while since I've played a show with other rappers. Wurdle turtle.

After these shows we'll be taking a break for about a month to focus on getting the new album recorded but we'll be back for the Deutschtown Music Festival - 5th Annual on July 15th on the Allegheny City Brewing stage. Long story short you have a lot of opportunities to catch us over the next month and there's something for everyone so you have no friggin excuse. Come dance!
