Sikes | Pittsburgh Indie Hip Hop & Podcast News

Sikes is an Indie Hip-Hop artist & producer from Pittsburgh, PA. He also hosts a weekly podcast focused on the Pittsburgh Music & Entertainment scene called Start The Beat with Sikes.

It's a new year and that means I'll be up to the same old shit as before. Let's dive in!

January 11th I'll be doing a solo dolo set with my homies False Accusations who will be on tour and playing in PGH at the Mr. Roboto Project. They rip. Come through and check them out. I'll be workshopping a bunch of new material as well. Be there or be square.

In addition Greywalker has a couple shows coming up and me being me, I filmed a video about it. Check out this REALLY FUCKING COOL stuff we got going on.

For anyone unable to watch the video above Greywalker has 2 shows coming up. JAN 26th we are doing a LIVE MUSIC VIDEO SHOOT & headlining gig at The Smiling Moose. FEB 25th we are playing with Darkest Hour at Cattivo. We are selling tickets to the FEB 25th Cattivo show on our website here and every ticket sold comes with a FREE GUEST LIST SPOT to the JAN 26th show at The Smiling Moose. BOGO RIFFS!

Expect a lot of new music this year from both Sikes and Greywalker. We have spent a lot of time within both projects working on new material behind the scenes and it's almost ready to be shared with the world. Almost. ;-)

For now though just come out to these shows and keep supporting DIY art or whatever. Word up!

R.I.P. 2017 - Final Sikes Show Of The Year & New Album Updates.

I'll be honest with you all. 2017 was a cool year for me as a human but not the most productive year for "Sikes". While a lot of awesome things happened, there was unfortunately too many distractions to allow for the new "Sikes and The New Violence" album to be completed. Very sad. Much bummer.

However, they say that everything happens for a reason and I would be lying if I said that these "distractions" didn't end up working in our favor. Being forced to spend some extra time on this new material has allowed for me to focus on myself and what I truly want to be doing as an artist moving forward. I know that sounds like some cookie cutter bullshit but I mean it. A year ago when I thought I was ready to record this album I actually wasn't and TBH I'm glad I didn't.

Anyways, fast forward past all the nonsense that happened this year and I'm happy to say that it is really close to being fully tracked now. Finally! With that being said, I have been testing out new material at some more recent solo performances and I'll be showcasing a whole lot of it at my final solo show of the year on December 2 at Blue Canary Coffeehouse in Mt Lebanon. Check the flyer.

This is a really killer showcase of Underground/Experimental/Indie/Hip-Hop/Rap/Electronic/Whatever featuring some great artists from Pittsburgh along with some of my homies from Philly coming into town for the event. I'm excited to share some of my new music with the world as well as the music of all my other friends playing this evening SOOOOOOOOOOO if you can, you should make some room in your busy schedules to come out and show your support!

I appreciate the hell out of all of you. See you December 2nd! New "Sikes" album eventually. Pizza always. Peace!

This is what happens when I don't update my website for 3 weeks. #updates

Wanted to start off this post by thanking everyone one last time that voted for Sikes, Greywalker and Brewtal Beer Fest last month in the 2017 Best of Pittsburgh Readers Poll. It has been a really busy year for all of these projects and things are not slowing down any time soon!

I will be performing a solo Sikes set next month with some awesome people here in Pittsburgh at Blue Canary on December 2nd. The people at Blue Canary are really welcoming and this will be an awesome night full of underground sounds.

In other news, Greywalker is releasing our Hot Sauce collaboration with Allegheny City Farms this Friday at Mr Smalls Funhouse! We've been doing all sorts of fun promo for this including a "Hot Ones' Parody/Tribute with our good friend Sean Valentine of the band Vermithrax.

Brewtal Beer Fest has launched our Brewtal Alliance Membership Program which is an awesome way for you to stay BREWTAL throughout 2018. Check out this promo video below to learn all about that!

In the middle of all this chaos Start The Beat is still going strong and new episodes have been coming out weekly. I recently had Day Bracey from the Drinking Partners Podcast on my show and it was an awesome conversation. Check out a video clip below along with some links to some other recent episodes!

And of course we can't forget about #oneminuteorless. I've been doing my best to get these out weekly. In case you missed any here are the past few...

And the train just keeps rolling! We opened up the Get Hip Record Store last month as well. Myspace Nite was a blast and yes, I'm still working on the new Sikes album. I promise. See below for photo proof. That's all for now. Later!

New songs. Soon. 👌

Millennials rejoice! It's the future and all of our music is weightless.

Millennials rejoice! It's the future and all of our music is weightless. No longer must we burden ourselves with physical goods to engage with music (but it's still pretty cool if you do).

With that being said, I Just wanted to remind everyone that Sikes and The New Violence is available on Spotify and that you should probably follow us since you know... I think we are friends PLUS we have been working on a new album so whenever it drops we want  Y O U  to be the  F I R S T  to hear it!  *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

To make this easy for you I have a button right here that you can click to follow us. I love you.

I also have put together a playlist of some of my favorite tracks from 2017 and if you're looking for new music or want a reason to make fun of me you can check out the playlist below! Give it a FOLLOW if you feelin' freaky. ;-)

Also, if all this digital shit isn't your cup of tea we still have plenty of physical goods available in our MERCH STORE. Vinyl, CD's, Cassettes, Shirts. You know. Merch stuff. Check it out here.

Blah blah blah DIY blah blah blah. New album soon. Later!
